Dogs are called man’s best friend for a reason. They are our loyal companions through life’s many highs and lows and always go out of their way to support and love us unconditionally. Many dogs are even workers who contribute to human society, lending their canine talents to assist emergency services in keeping us safe and also supporting those who are blind, deaf, or disabled. Dogs do so much for us, and International Dog Day is a time to celebrate that wonderful bond we share.

Although you should always show your dog love and appreciation, use International Dog Day as an excuse to spoil them (extra) rotten. Take your dog out to do their favourite activities like visiting the local park or indulging in a puppuccino at a pet-friendly cafe. Get active with your dog by playing with them, taking them for a walk, run or hike or to the dog park where they can play and socialise with other dogs. Perhaps even spoil them with a new toy, bone or bag of treats.

International Dog Day is also a time to think about dogs that are doing it hard. You could consider donating money and volunteering time at a rescue or animal welfare organisation. Perhaps you have thought about and are ready to take the big step of adopting a dog to provide them with a safe, loving, forever home.

Whatever is the case, International Dog Day is a time worth celebrating. We must let all our furry friends out there know just how pawesome they are. Click here to learn about dog cremation.
