Choosing your photo
Your pet’s photograph is at the heart of their personalised urn. To help us create the best possible result, we’ve put together a few simple guidelines to help you choose and submit your image.
Our in-house designer will carefully crop and position your image to suit the shape of your chosen urn. If you’re unsure which photograph to use, you’re welcome to send us several options and our designer can help select the most suitable image.
Photo Requirements
What makes a good photo?
✓ Shows the main parts of your pet
✓ Has plenty of background around them
✓ Is the original, uncropped photograph
✓ Is the largest possible file size/resolution
✓ Is landscape orientation, as this best suits the shape of the urn

CAN STILL WORK
✓ Portrait/vertical photos — These can still work if there is enough space to crop from the top and/or bottom of the image.
✓ Photos where part of your pet is cropped — These may still work if you are happy for the image to be cropped further.
✓ Close-up photos — These may work, but can make it more difficult to ensure all important areas of your pet are included.
STEP 2 — WE CROP & POSITION YOUR IMAGE
Our in-house designer will carefully crop and position your image to best suit the shape and size of your chosen urn.
You do not need to crop your photograph yourself. In fact, we recommend providing the original, uncropped image wherever possible so our designer has the most flexibility.
Where required, we may also use AI-assisted image editing to extend the background of your photograph so that it can be positioned beautifully within the artwork area.
AI-assisted editing is generally only used to extend or adjust areas around your pet where required to create the artwork. If you have requested changes to the background or surroundings, AI-assisted editing may also be used to make these adjustments.
STEP 3 — YOUR FINISHED URN
Once your image has been prepared and positioned, it is printed onto your personalised wooden urn to create a beautiful and lasting tribute to your pet.

Our personalised wooden urns are available in three sizes. Each size has a slightly different artwork area, which is why providing an uncropped photograph gives our designer more flexibility when creating your design.
SMALL
Pets 0–15kg
Artwork area: 92mm × 76mm
MEDIUM
Pets 16–39kg
Artwork area: 123mm × 102mm
LARGE
Pets 40kg+
Artwork area: 165mm × 121mm
Before you submit your photo
Please ensure we already have your pet’s details on file so we can correctly match your images to your pet.
Personalised Pet Urns
Personalised urns can be purchased with the “Individual Cremation with Personalised Wooden Urn” package or on their own.

- Select one Pet Angel’s wooden urns – Walnut, Teak, Pure or Ebony.
- Order individually or as part of a cremation service
- Pet Angel will print your photo directly onto the wood of the urn
- If you would like both sides of the urn to be personalised it is just an additional $30.00
